87 year old defendant acquitted

December 19, 2007 - After a two day jury trial in Fairfax County Circuit Court, an 87 year old defendant was acquitted of felony hit and run charges on December 13, 2007. The defendant, a resident of Falls Church, Virginia, was represented by Daniel F. Rinzel and Elizabeth K. Lynch of the firm of Redmon, Peyton & Braswell, LLP.

The incident leading to the felony charges occurred on the evening of April 21, 2007 on Telegraph Road near the intersection of Huntington Avenue when a pedestrian was struck while crossing Telegraph Road in midblock. “While this incident was certainly a tragedy for the victim of the accident and his family, it was also a tragedy for our client, who the evidence showed was unaware that he had injured anyone until some weeks later” Mr. Rinzel stated.
