Gordon P. Peyton is a native of Alexandria, Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee in 1962 and his law degree from Duke University in 1965. Since 1967 he has regularly served as a Trustee in Bankruptcy. Since 1978, he served as the Assistant Commissioner of Accounts for the Alexandria Circuit Court. In 2001, he became the Commissioner. At the invitation of the late Judge Albert V. Bryan, he became a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. He served on the local grievance committee and as its chair, and on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board and as its chair. In 1999, he was elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation Mr. Peyton practices primarily in the fields of probate and bankruptcy. Mr. Peyton is a past President of the Alexandria Bar Association and a past vice-president of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. He has served on many local boards and has been active in the Episcopal Church. |
